Club Facilities
The club is based on a beach on the western shore of the Tamar River Estuary,
about 35 minutes drive from Launceston, either on the West Tamar Highway, or
the East Tamar Highway and the Batman Bridge.
The club has the use of three boat ramps, and most trailerable boats can be launched and
retrieved at all tide levels. Dinghies can be launched directly from the
rigging area into the water.
The club has a grassed parking area, and a concrete rigging apron. There is further space to
rig up on the beach. Further parking is available next to the club on Council property.
The club has exclusive use to the northern half of the Deviot Pontoon on
club days. This pontoon is suitable for tying up all but the largest
recreational vessels, and is a popular fishing spot.
The club house has an excellent view of the river with large windows
overlooking the dinghy racing area. There are change rooms with a large
supply of hot water (important in Tasmania). In the downstairs area there
is a pool table, table tennis table and a hi fi to keep the land lubbers
amused. There is a canteen which supplies hot and cold food and drinks.
Out on the water, the club has permanent course markers. The two aluminium rescue boats,
the "Joe Bramble" and the "Kelso Rescue" provide rescue and coaching facilities on the water.
